We are having a beautiful fall day. Sunny and clear but a bit of a chill in the air. I love days like this. There is a frost advisory for tonight. First one. Fall/winter is not far off. The fireweed has bloomed to the top. There are a couple of sayings about the fireweed. One is that the height of the fireweed is how much snow you'll get in the winter. Another is that when the fireweed turns to cotton, summer is soon forgotten. (The comment that was posted said it better than I did, thanks!). The leaves are changing even more. It almost seems like they are changing by the hour.
Tomorrow I start a 16 day stretch on the road. It is two back to back tours to Prudhoe. I'll have two days in between tours but I doubt I'll even remember being in Fairbanks for those two days. I think these will be my last highway tours for the summer. When I get back I'll be doing local tours and such until the season ends. That'll be fine. I'm ready to be home every night. I've been gone a lot this summer.
I'm finally able to post some pics from kayaking and the hike. My connection at home isn't the fastest. The coffee shop I like has a much faster connection. That's where I am now, enjoying a latte.

Do you ever tip over in the kayak?
Cool pictures! That bridge looks interesting. I heard about that fireweed comment during my trip to Alaska several years ago. Summer time is just way too short up there.
