Back Again

I'm back from another successful trip up north.  The animals were amazing this trip!  On the way north we saw a grizzly bear but it was way off the road.  We also saw the musk ox and about 500 caribou in several different herds.  They were walking on the road and didn't want to get out of the way.  I thought that was pretty cool.  Well, on my trip south, we saw about 2,000 caribou, all in one herd!  That was pretty darn awesome!!  That's something you see once a summer.  No flat tire this trip so I was very happy about that!

It was nice to come back and find my stuff in my cabin, finally!  It's finally here from Seattle.  I have so much organizing to do now!  I'm too tired to do it right now, tho.  I did put my bed together last night when I got home.  I was able to sleep in it for the first time in six months!  I love my bed!  ;-)  I'm very thankful for Paul and Sonja, friends from a while back, who were there to let the movers in.  They are visiting from New York and will be moving to Moscow for two years.  Paul will be teaching at a university there.  They are staying at my cabin while in town.  Danielle also planted flowers at my cabin while I was gone.  It was so nice to come home and find them!  I'm so thankful for the friends I have here, they are helping me in so many ways.

As much as I'm happy to be back, I'm still dealing with stress and anxiety.  I'm pretty down that I can't find a full time job, and down that I'm single.  My friends are awesome but it's still getting me down that I'm single.  After being in a relationship for 8 years, it's really tough...

I'm sure there was more on my mind but I'm fully functioning right now.  Still a bit tired from the trip.

I'm Pooped

Finally, another post.  I know it's been a while.  I've been super busy with work.  I've done two trips up to Prudhoe Bay so far.  It's a seven day round trip and I'm without cell service or computer access for two days.  That's not really a bad thing.

The drive is 500 miles to the north of Fairbanks.  We stay the night in Coldfoot, which is nothing more than construction trailers that have been turned into "hotel" rooms.  It's not much to look at but it's clean, great beds and the people there very nice.  Deadhorse is a work camp, no one lives there.   They just rotate through every two weeks.  It's a cool place, tho.  I like it. I'm hoping to find a job there before summer is over.  By being up there I'm trying to make contacts and connections.  Hopefully something will work out.  I leave on Wednesday to head north again.

I had a flat tire yesterday on the way back to Fairbanks.  Luckily, it happened in the parking lot in Coldfoot.  There is actually a repair shop there so I was able to get them to change it for me.  Took all of 20 minutes.  It's amazing how much faster it goes with power tools!  It would have taken me an hour to do on my own on the side of the road.

My stuff has finally arrived from Seattle!  Yippee!!!  However it's not in my cabin yet.  I called today and they'll be delivering it on Wednesday.  Hopefully Missy will be able to meet them and let them in.

I seriously don't have much else to write about.  It's a good, busy summer.  I'm getting some great pictures of animals.  I have yet to see my first bear of the summer.  Hopefully soon, tho!
